Patricia Brown
Licensed Lawyer
Patricia Brown grew up in Toronto, Ontario, raised by a hard-working single mother who immigrated from Jamaica. She was instilled with values which taught her the fruits that a strong, unrelenting work ethic could bear. Channeling the passion which resulted from that upbringing toward advocating for fairness led to her to open The Law Office of Patricia Brown, Barrister & Solicitor as a sole practitioner in 2013.
Patricia is licensed to practice law in the Province of Ontario, Canada and State of Michigan, USA. Her unique background of spending many formative educational years in both countries provided her with the requisite knowledge and appreciation for access to justice, no matter which side of the border litigation is taking place.
Patricia’s practice areas include Criminal Defence; Mental Health; and Immigration Law. She has represented clients before the Ontario Court of Justice; Superior Court of Justice; The Court of Appeals for Ontario; the Supreme Court of Canada; the Provincial Offences Court; the Immigration Refugee Board of Canada; The Consent and Capacity Board and the Ontario Review Board.
Patricia volunteers her time instructing local front-line workers and law enforcement in various Crisis Intervention Training. She also spent several years sitting on the Board of Directors for the Essex-County Nurse Practitioner Led Clinic, and the Windsor Women Working with Immigrant Women.
Patricia has appeared on multiple local and national television and radio shows as a preferred guest commentator, lending her unique legal perspective to current discussion topics.
Patricia became a licensed lawyer in the State of Michigan in 2009, and was called to the bar in Ontario in 2013.
Patricia completed her undergraduate degrees at the University of Windsor. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Family and Social Relations and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She completed her law degree at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan where she obtained her Juris Doctorate in Law.
